Our villa is situated on six acres in the southern central area of Pennsylvania. We are bordered by pine trees and a beautiful creek, which the dogs enjoy swimming in. They also enjoy watching the array of wildlife that passes through. We are a private couple who have dedicated our lives to helping others find the enjoyment and companionship that can come from sharing your lives with a dog.
We have been involved in the world of dogs all of our lives. The experience and insight we have gained over the years combined with the use of testing guides us in making sound decisions to insure that our puppies will be wonderfull companions to share your days with.
We take great pride in our puppies. The first week they are monitered 24 hours a day. At 3 weeks they start on socialization. At five weeks they start to get groomed. The puppies get to play and romp in the outdoors and help us during chore time. We give the puppies countless hours of love and attention to insure they are happy and healthly.
And no we do not teach them not to untie
shoe laces, we leave that up to you.
We also believe that the "outside of a puppy is good for the inside of a child" and of course adults also. You must realize though that children need supervision to help learn responsible behavior with a puppy.
What sets us apart from others is Bonita, who personally cares for the family.
While John works away Bonita is home all the time and is a constant companion and mother hen to our companions. All breeding and whelping is handled by her. The parents live with us, as experience has taught us the only way to truly know a dog is to live with it day in and day out. We also in some cases have grandparents and even great grandparents.
In 2007 as our breeding program is entering its multigenerational phase we are also turning over most of the responsibility
for it to our daughter Tina and her husband,
Jason. As a toddler Tina was dodging the tails of
the Mastiffs we had at that time, at 3 she was
winning prizes with a full grown mastiff at local
competitions, at 8 she was spending Saturdays
at a large dressage based horse farm. After
finishing school she worked on several horse
farms from hunter, dressage, breeding and a fox
hunting farm. Her work in Dressage has taught
her patience and a deep knowledge of care and training that served her well in helping Bonita the last several years. Jason has a strong background in construction and the outdoors.
After 30 years of grooming and taking care of puppies Bonita’s wrists and knees are getting tired. Not to mention that we have not taken vacations as Bonita will not turn over the care of her dogs to just anyone. In the spring of
2007, John and Bonita moved to Myrtle Beach, S.C. and love it there.
We want to wish you good luck in finding that special new addition to your family. If you choose a Lions Den Basset or choose one somewhere else, remember this is a lifetime commitment. Please be a responsible owner and give your new addition all the time and love it deserves.
